Deborah Meyer
Hello Joan,
I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in February 2014. I live in the Sacramento Area, Auburn and I am 59 years old. I tested negative for BRCA. My medical treatment is through UC Davis Medical Center/Sacramento, CA. My Oncologist recommended Chemo then a lateral mastectomy on my right side. At first they did not think I would need Radiation. I had my single mastectomy on Nov. 7, 2014 with immediate reconstruction and an expander. My pathology came back with small traces of cancer in my shrunken tumor and 3 of 8 lymph nodes. I thought I was cancer free so this was hard to hear. But they say the radiation will take care of this. I will begin radiation on 12/18/14. I went from a Stage 2B to a Stage 3A. This is due to the lymph node involvement. I am healing well and getting fills for my expander and preparing for radiation.
I have been encouraged by your story. I have watch you on Good Morning America and the many special interviews you did. When you were diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer I was just beginning Chemo. I see that you are a strong role model to all of us that have Breast Cancer especially those of us with Triple Negative BC. Joan thank you for sharing your story with us. I know you will help many people. It helps me knowing that others are fighting this fight successfully. Congratulations on being a Grandmother! I will be a Grandmother for the first time in February 2015. I am so excited and plan on being healthy so that I can enjoy my Grandson! Thank you again Joan~
