February is American Heart Month
February in officially the month of hearts... Valentine's cards, heart shaped boxes of chocolates, hearts on display at every store... but most importantly February is American Heart Month. Throughout the month, The American Heart Association as well as many other organizations spread the word about heart health, education, and disease prevention. Heart disease is a major concern for our country. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) "every year, about 715,000 Americans have a heart attack. About 600,000 people die from heart disease in the United States each year—that’s 1 out of every 4 deaths. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women."
Throughout the month of February on both Camp Reveille's blog and Joan's blog, you will find information about heart health and camper spotlights focusing on Reveille women who either have a personal story about heart health or simply support all the wonderful strides we're making as a country in the area of heart health.
