Walk with Walgreens - Gearing up for Walking & Wearing the Proper Shoes
Years ago I lived in San Francisco on a street called Powell Street which is one of the steepest streets in San Francisco with a cable car. At the time I worked for a stock brokerage firm about 10 blocks away and the route I walked each day to and from work put me on some of the most challenging inclines you can imagine. Being a young fashionista, I was always in high heels and boy was that a mistake! It didn't take me long to realize that sneakers were going to be a necessity if I wanted to last on my grueling daily walking routine. I think to this day my feet still remember those San Fran Hills!
A few years later when I moved to New York City I found that I was always walking and again, I did way too much of it in heels and quickly learned the art of flats or sneakers for walking and heels for when you get there! Now that I live in suburbs, my walks are planned, rather than my mode of transportation. These days I weigh carefully when I really need to don the high heels, and more often you will find me in a great looking pair of sneakers. I’m very careful about the sneakers I wear, since a few summers ago I got a heal spur from wearing the wrong kind for me so now it is very important to protect that. I feel that simply wearing sneakers makes me more inclined to walk, they just put a spring in my step!
