My ears perked up this morning when this segment came on The Today Show featuring my friend Dr. Nancy Snyderman. We keep hearing about the important role sleep plays to our health, but what about our children? Are they getting enough sleep? In today's busy world there are more pressures on children - they have more homework, more after school activities, more social obligations... but there are also more distractions and more technological devices available to them which can be a real concern to their health.
Having electronics in the bedroom at night can drastically lower the amount of sleep that your child might be getting. The "dinging" of the device and the blue light that it projects all will stunt your children's (and your!) sleep. It is so important that we get these devices out of the kids rooms in the evening and let them fall asleep naturally. Not to mention - un-monitored use of the internet can lead to safety and social concerns for your children.
Here is the segment from this morning's Today Show: Up all night: Parents and kids are losing sleep to their devices
