16 Books To Read Before They Hit Theaters This Year
Books and movies are two of my favorite pastimes. A good book can transport you into another time or another place, you can be taken on a journey, learn new things, and fall in love with characters - all from your own couch. And it's always so much fun to see your new favorite story come to life right in front of your eyes in a great movie adaptation!?
This past weekend I came across an article on Buzzfeed Books called 16 Books To Read Before They Hit Theaters This Year. To my surprise on of my favorite books is on the list! This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper.
I got this book recommendation from a girlfriend of mine who I noticed had her nose stuck in a book! She looked captivated and since I LOVE to read (I usually have to force myself to put down my book at 2 or 3 in the morning, shhh!) I had to ask what had her so enthralled.
She told me it was This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper. The book is about protagonist, Judd Foxman and the struggles he is forced to face within his life. Judd's father just passed away and to add to his stress, his wife had an affair with his radio-shock-jock boss which has recently become painfully public. The death of Judd Foxman's father is the first time the entire dysfunctional Foxman clan has congregated in years.
Judd is forced to face uncomfortable confrontation and old grudges. Believe it or not, the book is a comedy and had me laughing out loud page after page. Tropper does more than write a story, he makes you think about how you should perceive life, love and family. He makes you put your own life in perspective and helps you distinguish what's really important from what you should let go.
I loved the book so much I went on to read most of Jonathan Tropper's other novels and he is now one of my favorite authors. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
The movie interpretation will star Jason Bateman and Tina Fey, two amazingly funny and talented comedians! It wont hit theaters till September so if you haven't read the book yet, you still have plenty of time to start!
If you are interested in reading other books by Jonathan check out his website. I highly recommend them!
