Are You Dense Inc. Launches Hispanic/Latina Breast Health Program
My friend and fellow breast density advocate, Nancy Cappello, is the director and founder of an organization called, Are You Dense Inc, who recently launched a Breast Health Program for Hispanic and Latina women. Check out some interesting stats and their video announcement here!
- American Cancer Society reports breast cancer as the leading cause of cancer deaths in Hispanic/Latina women as they are more likely to be diagnosed with advanced disease compared to white non-Hispanic population.
- With a grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation, Are You Dense, Inc., with Madre Latina Inc., announces educational breast health resources in Spanish named E.M.P.O.W.E.R.E.D. - Early Matters: Providing Opportunities With Educational Resources for Early Detection. Along with educational literature, a video, with English Captions, urging women to be smart about breast cancer screening options, including knowledge of their breast density for optimum breast health, is featured.
- The compelling video which features a breast cancer survivor, latina leader and a physician is available to the public on You Tube.
- More information about the EMPOWERED campaign can be found in the blog post, Providing Latina/Hispanic Educational Resources for Optimal Breast Health: Honoring My Hispanic Heritage written by Nancy M. Cappello, Ph.D., founder and director of Are You Dense Inc.
