Getting It All In The Operating Room
It's not uncommon to require a second surgery after having a lumpectomy on your breast. This happens because a biopsy of a tumor could reveal that the surgery did not successfully get "clear margins." A few months ago, I visited the Miami Breast Cancer Conference, where companies and institutions demonstrated cutting edge surgical technology and equipment on the floor. I found a very interesting one called, Margin Probe, which ensures that cancer surgeons "get it all" in the operating room.
