In Focus: Triple Negative Breast Cancer

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer. It was not a happy surprise to learn that some patients with this type of cancer have cells that do not respond to treatment. I wanted to know more about it and get the latest information, so I went to Boston to talk to the amazing Dr. Daniel Stover of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. My questions included:

• Why are the advances in Triple Negative research and treatment seemingly slower than in other forms of breast cancer?
• What are the keys to prevention?
• Will we soon see therapies that reduce the need to douse a patient with such heavy amounts of chemotherapy?
