I'll never forget trying to figure out how I would tell my children that I had cancer. I remember, right after I was diagnosed, I mentioned to my doctor I was going to keep my cancer a secret from my young children in an attempt to protect them. She quickly corrected me and said, "never keep secrets in the home, it can cause for trust problems later in life."
